The French Revolution: one year on

On 24 May 2018, the Dahrendorf Forum and LSE’s European Institute hosted Jean Pisani-Ferry who delivered a public lecture on French economic policy under President Macron.

Jean Pisani-Ferry is a Professor at Sciences Po Paris and the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, and was the Director for Programme and Ideas of Macron’s presidential campaign.

In his lecture he analysed the changes to French economic policy following the election of Macron as President. He talked the audience through Macron’s economic agenda and his aim to transform the French economy by focussing on two key policy objectives: modernisation of the economy and empowerment of French citizens, by means of decreasing social inequality and increasing social mobility.

Christine Ockrent, journalist and former COO of France 24 and RFI, provided additional reflections on Professor Pisani-Ferry’s comments.

The event was chaired by Iain Begg, Co-Director of the Dahrendorf Forum.
