Please note that this event will be held in German.

The Institut français des relations internationales (Ifri), the Dahrendorf Forum and the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP) invite you to the panel discussion “France, Germany and the pursuit of European strategic autonomy”.

Against the background of growing international security threats, closer Franco-German cooperation is essential to driving the EU’s common security and defence policy, so that the goal of European strategic autonomy be achieved at the political, operational and industrial level. However, the concrete implementation of Franco-German security co-operation has encountered various obstacles in the past. What measures can be taken to strengthen cooperation?

Led by the Institut français des relations internationales (Ifri) and the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP), a group of German and French experts has investigated this question. We would like to discuss the results of this project in the form of the report “France, Germany, and the Quest for Strategic Autonomy” together with you in the Chatham House rule format.
