As part of the High-Level Policy Dialogue series on The New EU Multi-Annual Financial Framework, the College of Europe has published a paper by Dahrendorf Academic co-Director Iain Begg on the EU budget. The paper examines the paradoxical contestation over the budget considering the relatively small sums compared to domestic budgets of member states. It focuses on the process of agreeing on a budget for the Bloc and what effect Brexit may have on these negotiations.
The High-Level Policy Dialogue is a joint initiative of the College of Europe European Economic Studies Department and the School of Transnational Governance of the European University Institute. It seeks to foster communication between academics and policymakers by providing a forum for both to share their respective expertise and by this means, to encourage collaboration between the worlds of academia and policy.
