On 8 May 2018, the Dahrendorf Forum, the LSE European Institute, and the Cañada Blanch Centre welcomed then-leader of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) and current Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, to the LSE to deliver a public lecture on the Catalan Crisis.
Dr Sánchez discussed the history of the Catalan Crisis, explained the stance of both the Spanish government and the opposition on the issue, and offered possible solutions to improve the Catalan-Spanish relationship. The lecture was followed by a Q&A with active engagement from the audience. Paul Preston, Director of the LSE Cañada Blanch Centre for Contemporary Spanish Studies, chaired the event.
